This striking shade of blue features in many of our Collector's Edit's products - from mugs, to vases, to glassware. You may have wondered why we title the shade "Klein Blue" - this is after the French performance artist and painter Yves Klein, who had a penchant for creating works using this very color!
Klein, to create his perfect matte blue surfaces, worked with a scientist in Paris to come up with a mixture of ultramarine blue and polyvinyl acetate resin, the paint formula which he registered under the name International Klein Blue (IKB) at the Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle.
Yves Klein, IKB 191, 1962, private collection. Wikimedia Commons (public domain).
He famously reimagined famous works of art with his signature IKB pigment - abolishing the boundaries between colour, sculpture, performance, time and space.

As a tribute to Klein’s bold vision, we have curated a collection of design items featuring this captivating shade of blue as unique additions to the home, outside of gallery walls. Our dream is for every home to have a statement piece or two and for art to form a topic of interest as part of everyday life.
